Instead of moment requirements that had been the case for past rare and legendary pack drops, Top Shot rolled out the long-rumored &#8220;collector score&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was surprised to find out the calculation of a user&#8217;s collector score was transparent and easily determined. I assumed it was going to be a black-box kind of thing, where users didn&#8217;t know anything other than if they were eligible or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, as it stands, you can calculate your collector score on your own, which means that people will still game the system to ensure they are eligible for certain drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The score breakdown is as follows per the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.nbatopshot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">official Top Shot blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Series 1 Moments:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Common (Base Set only): 25 points&nbsp;<\/li><li>Common (Non-Base Set): 40 points<\/li><li>Rare: 100 points&nbsp;<\/li><li>Legendary: 2000 points<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Series 1 &#8211; Challenge Completion + Reward Owned<\/strong><\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Common (Non-Base Set) = 20 points<\/li><li>Rare = 50 points<\/li><li>Legendary = 1000 points<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Series 2 Moments:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Common (Base Set only): 12 points<\/li><li>Common (Promo): 10 points<\/li><li>Common (Non-Base Set): 20 points<\/li><li>Rare: 80 points<\/li><li>Legendary: 1000 points<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Series 2&nbsp;&#8211; Challenge Completion + Reward Owned<\/strong><\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Common (Non-Base Set) = 70 points<\/li><li>Common (Promo) = 35 points<\/li><li>Rare = 280 points<\/li><li>Legendary = 3,500 points<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"510\" src=\"https:\/\/topshot101.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-9-1024x510.png\" alt=\"Collector Score Detailed Review\" class=\"wp-image-443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/topshot101.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-9-1024x510.png 1024w, https:\/\/topshot101.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-9-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/topshot101.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-9-768x382.png 768w, https:\/\/topshot101.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image-9.png 1246w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There is certainly a weighting here. Scarce moments are worth more points, which is certainly a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amended rules to points for <a href=\"https:\/\/topshot101.com\/completing-challenges\/\">completing challenges<\/a> is also good. It boosts the score substantially for users who complete and then hold their challenge rewards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Do note, you don&#8217;t have to own the exact moment you got for completing the challenge, you can swap for another one of a different serial number at no penalty to your collector score)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there is still a lot that is not taken into account. For example, if they are truly trying to reward collectors, why are all moments of the same series worth the same? The Lebron <a href=\"https:\/\/topshot101.com\/badges\/\">Top Shot Debut<\/a> moment is certainly &#8220;worth&#8221; more than other Series 1 moments of him. However, under the current weighting, they are all worth the same?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the whole, Top Shot still has a lot of work to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marketplace Bonuses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With rare drops lately, Top Shot has been adding on a &#8216;Marketplace Bonus&#8217; based on how much you&#8217;ve spent in&#8230;you guessed it&#8230;the marketplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets-global.website-files.com\/5ea7adb57f49ec96cb312e21\/60c27dbb4457a26ba9c63610_dzwXQ4xIHkGUl9-JvlJ3-EoeBjTnX0SIk-gb_Ia1iLubAOBGQ8PCwNBNYcVZNyvQ7Honc3Z3aoA20NdrrJgn-gGH8wGKfJM8NwLqVQAPdhnbn1yqr9JDlTtaq0RcdQZeldZ_U2lP.png\" alt=\"Marketplace Bonus for Collector Score\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea is that this will encourage collectors to keep dumping their hard-earned paychecks in Top Shot. They will then be invited to <a href=\"https:\/\/topshot101.com\/buying-packs\/\">play the pack game<\/a> for rare and legendary drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Difference Between Baller Status and Collector Score<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, there is also a redundancy in Top Shot too. Why have Baller Status <em>and<\/em> Collector Score?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time will tell if Baller Status fades away, or they are somehow combined. Right now, Baller Status is useless though, as it&#8217;s giving you achievement points but there are no rewards tied to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Collector Score is the one you want to focus on as it&#8217;s tied into how you will be eligible for pack drops and is based off your moments and your moments only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baller Status conversely takes a more holistic view of the account, if you ask me. It factors in how many packs you&#8217;ve opened, how many showcases you&#8217;ve created, and also how many moments you&#8217;ve received through pack. Had they just added on more achievements tied to moment numbers and rarity, they could have just made Baller Status a more effective version of Collector Score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I type this, I&#8217;ll admit it&#8217;s a bit of a mess. The first pack drop tied to Collector Score also experienced a delay. I&#8217;m hoping with time all of this stuff will get ironed out and Collector Score will reward true collectors as it promised to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it stands, Collector Score is just another way for big money to game the system and get richer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where Can I View My Collector Score?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UPDATE 6\/3:<\/strong> Collector Score is now available at the top of your Top Shot profile (see below).
